The time has come
for me to share my favorite find since beginning my journey of mindfulness. A few months ago, I was fed up with my make-up products. I wanted an all-natural beauty routine, but was struggling to find a make-up brand that was safe for my skin, better for the environment, made by a responsible company, AND would not cost me as much as our mortgage. (Seriously, the make-up industry is making a killing right now.)
Enter Root.
I think I stumbled upon their website as I trudged through yet another blog post about all-natural make-up products everyone should try. As I browsed their website and looked more into the company itself, I was intrigued. I read reviews and FAQ’s and ingredient lists, and I had to try it. Let’s talk about how I fell in love and why I know you’ll love them too.
Root has this fabulous thing they do where you can order three different colors of their Pearl Powder Mineral Foundation and receive sample sizes for FREE. You just pay $5 for shipping; and when you are ready to purchase a full-sized foundation, they send you a coupon code for $5 off that purchase! These sample sizes are adorable, first of all. But more importantly, they actually give you enough to cover your whole face. . . more than once! I was able to use ONE sample size for at least three full days of face coverage.
The Pearl Powder Mineral Foundation comes in forty-seven different shades and colors so you can find the one that perfectly matches your skin. Can’t narrow down which three you want to try? That’s fine. Send them a picture of your skin in natural lighting and they’ll give you recommendations! (I wear C2, in case you were wondering, but could probably do N1 as well.)
With every purchase you make from the website, you also get a free sample of a completely different product! I’ve gotten sample sizes of eyeshadows and blush. It is fun to get random products that I may have never tried otherwise! You also have the option to “subscribe” instead of a one-time purchase, like if you know you go through mascara like nobody’s business.
Their mascara comes in either black or brown. It smells delicious, and looks beautiful and natural when worn. Eye shadows come in either loose powder or pressed pans. (You can build your own Z Palette with their pressed pans!) There are also three different shades of their pressed brow pan, and over thirty shades of blush and bronze. Their liquid eyeliner is beautiful and lasts forever. They do not have a pencil eyeliner right now, which is a bummer for me since I don’t prefer the liquid eyeliner; but this may be changing someday! They are open to new suggestions! (I’ll come back to this later.)
When I ran out of the face moisturizer I was using, I jumped at the chance to try some Root skin products. I purchased sample sizes of their Fresh Lavender Moisturizer and Fresh Lavender Toner to see how I liked them and what they did to my face. Y’ALL. I felt like I was at a spa the first time I used them. They smell SO good and leave my face feeling fresh at night! I had also never used toner before but now I’m obsessed. I can’t believe the make-up it removes from my skin even after I’ve used coconut oil and face wash. Toner is one of those things that you may not necessarily need but may find it beneficial!
Story time! Last weekend I got sick. Like, really sick for twenty-four hours. I didn’t do my nightly routine at all for two nights except use a bit of coconut oil to take off my eye makeup the first night. The day after this, I started to break out. Nothing crazy, but definitely noticeable. That night I did my normal routine, and I could not BELIEVE how much makeup came off when I used the toner! So much more than my normal nightly amount. My skin started clearing up the next day.
The products I have used (and loved, evidently) are the Pearl Powder Mineral Foundation in C2, 100% Lash Natural & Organic Mascara in black, Natural Brow Powder Pan in Ash Brown, 100% Line Liquid Eyeliner, Mineral Blush in Sadie, Eyeshadow (Loose) in Centsible, Fresh Lavender Toner, and Fresh Lavender Moisturizer, as well as samples of Loose Eyeshadow in Mojito, Loose Eyeshadow in Tart, and Mineral Blush in Joyful. That last sample was not my favorite but only because it was a color that just didn’t look great on me.
There are still many products and colors I haven’t tried yet, but I am excited to use more Root products as I need them. There are men’s products, lip balms, essential oils, make-up brushes, gift sets, make-up remover, shaving cream, body wash, perfume, dry shampoo–and you can get sample sizes of almost everything!

I mentioned Pretty Points at the beginning of the blog post so let’s talk about those. Pretty Points are obtained in a variety of ways including the purchases you make (so many points per dollar spent), “Liking” their Facebook page or following their other social media accounts, and letting people use your personal link to make purchases. Those points translate into credit to be spent on their website! Very simple, and you don’t have to worry about it if you don’t want to. It’s just a nice perk.
Root is also interested in woman of all shapes, sizes, ages, and skin tones. They recently completed their Spring 2019 model search, which was filled by people like me: regular people who love Root.
